Sub Branch of the Year 2011
Saturday, 03 December 2011 11:09

sub branch of the year-smallFrankston RSL is delighted to be able to announce that they are the 2011 SUB BRANCH OF THE YEAR. We won this award for believing in our Mission Statement, “To provide outstanding service, pleasure and enjoyment to all veterans and the community”. We have worked very hard to make our Sub-Branch one that all our members, as well as the wider community, can be proud of.

The continued growth and success of our business over the past six years can be attributed to many things some of which are:

  •   Our ongoing commitment to staff training & personnel development. We believe this gives our employees a sense of belonging and self achievement for which they are all recognised and rewarded in front of their peers.

  •   The ‘Three Tiered Management Structure’ with regular meeting format which has been established within our venue and has proved instrumental in ensuring the lines of communication reach to all levels of our staff.

  •  Our business is marketed and driven through our Membership and since 2006 we have seen a 300% increase in this area. This has been across all Membership categories which include service, affiliate and social Members.

  •  Frankston RSL's commitment to its wider community continues to increase through the ongoing financial and in-kind support it provides each year. In 2010/11 we have assisted over 45 organisations within our local community with direct financial assistance. These organisations not only offer valuable support to the aged, disabled, destitute and misplaced but also ongoing sponsorship to many sporting groups.

  • The Welfare department continues to expand and develop programs to give our veterans and their spouses a better quality of life. Programs include day trips, fitness classes, IT/Mobile training, Internet Cafe, plus much more.  In 2011 our Welfare coordinator also introduced an exciting new concept by integrating primary school students with our senior computer training group to help them become more confident and gain a better understanding of modern communication and technology. Our merry band of volunteers still do over 350 visits per month, to hospitals and homes, conduct household visits to new widows to assist in any household duties and sit on the many RSL kindred organisations. In addition to veteran’s welfare we also provide extensive support to local aged care facilities with “no cost” lunches on a weekly basis, this is strongly patronized and will exceed 1,000 meals in 2011.

It is felt that to be awarded Sub-Branch of the Year is wonderful recognition for all our Committee, who work to further engender the ethos of the RSL, Volunteers, and Staff, who have worked so hard as a team to make this club relevant to today's community, and the management who are industry leaders in their field, which then has enabled us to tend to all of our members many and varied needs.
