It is felt that to be awarded Sub-Branch of the Year is wonderful recognition for all our Committee, who work to further engender the ethos of the RSL, Volunteers, and Staff, who have worked so hard as a team to make this club relevant to today's community, and the management who are industry leaders in their field, which then has enabled us to tend to all of our members many and varied needs.
December 2011 We are very pleased to be able to announce that the total amount raised for the 2011 Poppy Appeal was $38,624. We would like to thank all the volunteers who took time to help us in this fantastic effort for a job well done.
November 2011 This year we will be conducting Memorial and Remembrance Day services at: The Frankston Cemetery Sunday November 6th from 10.45am and The Davey Street Cenotaph Friday November 11th from 10.45am. Poppies are on sale at the club now and are also in all the local shopping centres , Schools, Bunnings as well as and many shops in the Frankston area. Please show your support and purchase a poppy today.
November 2011 City Life is a local organisation which among other things runs a cafe for many of the needy come to receive food assistance. The cafe runs in Clyde Street Frankston and operates 4 days a week. It is a place where people can come and receive a hot nutritious meal and sit and talk with others. Food parcels are also available for those who are in crisis. We are once again asking for support from our Members in a 2011 for our City Life Can Drive. We aimed high last year setting our target at 2000 cans. Unfortunately we fell a little short by 1000 cans but that has not diminished our enthusiasm for this year and we have set our target at 2011 Cans. All donations can be dropped off to the Club for the whole month of November. The cans will then be delivered to City Life for the Christmas period. Cash donations will also be accepted at Reception.
Very Specail Kids September 2011 Friday 16th September Frankston RSL will be turning pink in support of this organisation. We will be running raffles and having some fun with a visit from the Pink Pig. We hope you can join us on this evening and dig deep to help us raise our goal of $5000
Cash to Splash Winner 2011 Friday 22nd July saw 20 lucky members selected to come and join in our Birthday Celebrations with the opportunity for one of them to Win $2000 in our annual “Cash to Splash’ promotion.Congratulations go to George Wiggett for selecting the right box and taking home $2000. Navy Centenary Dinner July 2011 On Saturday the 16th July, 190 guests and 16 dignitaries joined together at Frankston RSL, with the White Ensign as focal point to celebrate the centenary of the “Royal” proclamation to the Australia Navy. It was a special night for the club with the National President of the RSL Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Rtd) and the State President of the RSL Major General David McLachlan AO (Rtd) in attendance. Both presidents concluded the evening on the dance floor to the sounds of the Royal Australian Navy Band. The other dignitaries, including Commodore Dickson AM MBE RAN (Rtd), Captain Hill CSC RAN, the Honorable Bruce Billson, Geoff Shaw MP, Mayor Kris Bolam and Deputy Mayor Sandra Mayer also had an enjoyable evening. Highlight of the evening was having 94 year old George Jones, the oldest ex matelot in attendance cut the centenary cake with the Admiral.
