ANZAC DAY 2024

Commemorative service will be “Lived Streamed” on the day:
THURSDAY 25 APRIL, 2024
This year we continue to commemorate all those who have served in the defence of our nation.
DAWN SERVICE
6.00AM at Frankston War Memorial in Beauty Park (between the ends of Baxter Avenue and Spring Street)
GUNFIRE BREAKFAST
7AM On completion of the Dawn Service – The Sausage Sizzle will be provided by local Rotary Clubs and served at various points around the War Memorial.
Gold Coin Donation.
COMMEMORATIVE MARCH
10.30AM – Muster at the corner of Yuille and Park Streets.
10.45AM – The march will commence from the corner of Park and Yuille Streets, Frankston.
The march route will proceed into Yuille Street and down High Street to the War Memorial, saluting the Flame of Remembrance as you pass.
COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE & WREATH LAYING
11.00AM – On completion of the march at the Frankston War Memorial in Beauty Park
All Service Members, and their families, are invited to the Frankston RSL for a complimentary Carvery Roast lunch, after the ANZAC day commemorative service at the Frankston War Memorial.
3.20PM Essendon Vs Collingwood Live game on the big screen in Huey;s Sports Bar
Please note:
Bingo, Raffles Night, and Live Music in Huey’s Sports Bar will not be available.
Overview ANZAC Day 2022
2022 saw once again the public commemorating ANZAC Day with around 5,000 at the Dawn Service and 2,000 at the Commemorative and Wreath Laying Service.
Captain Michael OBORNE CSC RAN was guest speaker at both services on behalf of the Chief of Navy, and Peta MURPHY, Federal Member for Dunkley spoke at the Dawn service, in addition to Paul EDBROOKE, local member for Frankston who spoke at the commemorative service. Both services were supported by the Reverend Glen Macrae of St. Lukes Church, and local cadets from both Army and Air Force.
A highlight at the completion of both services is the general public laying poppies in the garden, which is within the memorial and becomes a feature for many weeks to come.
Following the Wreath Laying, where over 30 wreaths were placed along the memorial wall, 550 service members and families returned to the RSL for lunch.
